Puzzle Description:

...add fresh air to a piano performance? Answer in the first comment.

Confetti on steroids.
I was accompanying a soloist on the piano. I’m not good with turning pages, so I had copied and spread out each page across the piano from left to right. As we began, someone decided to turn on an oscillating fan. This in turn started moving the first couple of pages on the piano. As I realized that each page was resting on top of the next one, I knew it was only a matter of time before I lost all of the pages domino style. So in a split second move, I grabbed the moving pages and threw them out of the way. As they fluttered to the ground, people who had caught sight of this later asked what possessed me to do that during a performance. What’s more intrusive, a few flying pages, or a soloist suddenly singing without the accompaniment?

LOL! Very smart!

I don't know if it was smart, or just desperate. Either way, it worked.

Brilliant

I can simpathize. I did a lot of accompaning and there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes. Pianos you have never played before ind places you have never been before.

My piano teacher told me to play whatever was available as if it was the best piano you have ever touched. A positive attitude helps in every way.

Joanne, I just love your adventures! Well told, and so different from many other people's.

Great images and solves as a bonus!

Thank you Bill.

Joanne, the same thing happened to me yesterday at church. I don't like to turn pages either, so I do the same thing with my music. When a fan kicked on, my music blew away.

Maybe it's time I go modern and buy one of those digital music displays.

I'm currently in the process of digitalizing all of my paper music. I have a desktop monitor and mini PC on my piano at home and use a foot pedal to turn pages. The only time consuming chore is scanning all of the music into the program. (I'm using Power Music software by Cambron, in case you were wondering.)

And on top of the amazing animal stories, you're musical as well? Wow!

This is why I tape my photocopies, lol, and then pull the pages down to the floor as we transition from one song to the next. If they're short, sometimes the songs are taped to each other. But I'm talking about using mostly chord or vocalists sheets, not the full piano score.

I can totally see this, hee hee

I've done the same thing, Koreen. I've also cut the singing part out of the piano accompaniment just to compress the staffs to shorten the amount of pages taped together when accompanying soloists. And I remember my mom had so many music pages on one piece, she shrank the pages, taped them together into two long pieces, then taped the first section above the second. It was a tall wall of music sitting on the piano.

I thought it was cool to be able to purchase more than one song at a time... compiled in a big book. And now, we've passed from making paper copies to digital!
