The Zero Circle is a sacred symbol, the basis of the Medicine Wheel. In this one we have a small circle in the center, the sun symboling creation. We have the four directions, explained below. The swirly design represents water, and the arrow thingies are small waterbirds, both symbols of life renewal.#2: Teresa K (fasstar) on May 16, 2009
The four triangles are the Four Mountains, representing the four cardinal directions. Mount Blanca is the Sacred Mountain of the East, near Alamosa in San Luis Valley, Colorado. Mount Taylor is the Sacred Mountain of the South#3: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on May 16, 2009
north of Laguna, New Mexico. The San Francisco Peaks are the Sacred Mountain of the West, near Flagstaff, Arizona. Mount Hesperus is the Sacred Mountain of the North, in the La Plata Mountains in Colorado.
"The four directions represent life's cycles, beginning with the South which represents birth, innocence, and faith. A person then travels to the West, a place of introspection, learning life's lessons until he or she becomes mature and enters the North, a place of wisdom and gratitude. At this point the Earth's walk is finished. The spirit then enters the Golden Door at the East, a place of illumination, entering the Blue Road that travels from East to West before it comes through the Golden Door in the East again." - Navajo artist who makes dreamcatchers.
Nice and fun. I admit, though, once I was about 2/3 done, I started using symmetry to solve it.#4: Meg Tayler (rebelcat) on May 16, 2009
