I remember my dad, spelling his last name over the phone. It was a variation of the phonetic alphabet, but he always started with "V as in Victor"

I do it exactly the same, now.
V as in Victor, O G, N as in Nancy, I L, D as in David.

"David"!! Woo! :P

I spell my last name out loud exactly the same way I always heard my dad say it too with the same emphasis and cadence: "bee-oh-YOU-ell, dee-EYE-in". It hits the spots that are usually in question because there are various similar spellings like Bolden, Boulden and Boldin.
