Is edge logic considered "logically solvable" or "look-ahead"? I never know. And for that matter isn't look-ahead guessing? Because you have to guess a square and then look ahead to see if it works. It's all very subjective. Anyway the puzzle is very nice, definitely solvable, and I'm glad I didn't live near you in college.

edge logic is deemed "moderate look-ahead". It's not guessing at all. The more you solve and get used to it, some edge logic becomes easily identifiable and sometimes it's just blatantly obvious. You can just "see" it. Often times(if not usually), I go straight to using the edge vs adding up for line logic. Other times you have to look for it, ofc, but there certainly is no guessing to it. "moderate look-ahead" is logically solvable, and also entails the use of internal edge logic, 2-way logic, smile logic, and summing. actually, the more you solve, you can actually look at a blank grid and the numbers on the sides and top and get a gist for the shape of the image(even enough to guess what it is). Kristen is good at that.

idk where they got them all, Norma. I think they just always had their eye out for a set for whenever the next scavenger hunt came up. I think 3 sets came in one night. they knew right where to go...

this was when I attended UMSL(Univ MO St Louis). Most of the students live in the St Louis metro area and drove to school from home. not at all hard to find things like that in an area of suburbs so large, as opposed to going away to school at some college town where there isn't much else but a university.

you look at the pic and you can immediately tell what it is...but at the same time, you can look at it and think "half or most of it is a random gloop of black lines and blobbery". every black leads to a dot which leads to the next black. nothing about this puzzle/image/solve is random.

I don't have much of a point, just thinking that I miss having Kadou and Kai and some of the other creators around. not that I can talk as I haven't been visible until recently, but they "get it", and what exactly goes into making puzzles. You could easily throw quite a few other names out there also, but those two are clearly MIA and their talent is sorely missed at webpbn. by me anyway. just wanted to throw it out there since people come and go and whatnot, and it seems to be an "out of sight, out of mind" kind of thing. any newbies out there reading this, do yourself a favor and check out some of their puzzles! you'll be in for a treat...

Thanks for the hat tip, Kurt. I tend to be extra visual in my approach. Especially with big circular outlines, it's easy for me to see where it goes.
