We used to watch tornados go thru the field across the street. One of my little league games was called off only after the third tornado nearby touched down. Was very rare to feel in danger, but if we did, we'd go sit in the bathtub with a mattress over us :)

Apparently sitting in a bathtub with a nattress for protection worked because you are still with us even though it doesn't sound like a whole lot of protection.

well, we were never hit, so the protection level was untested :)
