Here's a more tribute-y entry.

I got stuck on this one, had to use the helper, but eventually got through it.

Nice image, Kristen!

I loved this puzzle, Kristen, first for the subject matter...and second for the way it solved! I didn't have to use an iota of edge logic...and I just love b&w puzzles where I have to think in order to eliminate squares, but don't have to use edge logic! Those type puzzles are my absolute favorites because most b&ws that don't employ edge logic are way too easy...so the really good ones like this one are few and far between. Thank you Kristen!...and, as always, thank you, Jan!

PS...Kristen, your rendition of Jan puts me in mind of Norman Rockwell's "self portrait" lol!

Thanks, JoDeen! I was glad it turned out to be line logic solvable, too.

And I know exactly the painting you mean. :)

Wonderful puzzle. We all owe a huge debt of gratitude to Jan for giving us so many hours of pleasure. What a dedicated man. How many of you remember logging on to unixpapa to solve puzzles?
#6: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Aug 9, 2012 [SPOILER]
Great puzzle Kristen. You can almost see the glow of the monitor as Jan works late into the night.
#7: Tom King (sgusa) on Aug 9, 2012
Great puzzle, Kristen. Thank you so much Jan for making this site available and for enhancing it. Gotta admit, I greatly prefer either difficult LLS or alternative logic to blots. I haven't tried making one yet. Maybe I'll change my mind. The "blot" is the flavor of the day, and I guess I have to live with it.
#8: Jason Wodicka (jwodicka) on Aug 9, 2012
The solve itself is just a pleasure on this puzzle, and the image makes it even more enjoyable. Very, very well done, and surprisingly challenging!
#9: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Aug 10, 2012

#17: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Aug 11, 2012
wow...very cool how you did that! a few lines that looks like nothing as you're solving turns out into a very artistic image. loved it! thank you K, and thanks to Jan for making it all possible!
#18: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Aug 11, 2012
Thanks! I lucked out with this one. I just needed to thicken his back a little to make it solvable; otherwise, I was able to keep my original design.
#19: Teresa K (fasstar) on Aug 12, 2012
Luck? Maybe. You are a gifted artist and you put these blots and pixels in just the right place. Great detail, amazing image, and a most enjoyable solve. Brava!

Nice puzzle, Kristen!
It would have been just as nice without those few blots.

I wonder what kind of evaluation you would get from someone who thinks you're one of my "girlfriends"... :}
