Sgusa, I read witty aphorism the other day: A woman marries a man because she thinks he will change, and a man marries a woman because he thinks she won't.

#26: Tom King (sgusa) on Mar 19, 2012
Thanks, JoDeen. The soul searching has been accomplished. Wise words, indeed.
#27: Teresa K (fasstar) on Mar 19, 2012
Wow, JoDeen, your message of hope and encouragement is so valuable. Like you, I was raising three small children when my husband left me. Unlike you, I never remarried. I never thought I would say this, but I have found happiness and fulfillment as a single woman. Life is as good as we make it, whatever comes our way.

A side note: My parents were honored last week for being the longest married couple in Wisconsin. They were interviewed for the evening news in Madison for sharing 73 years of wedded bliss. They are so cute together - he is 95 and she is almost 93.
#28: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Mar 20, 2012
Wow! Many don't even live to see 73 much less married for that long.
