Why is it that everytime I look at "Rate Puzzle" there's always an empty box in front of "Mark puzzle as completed"?#2: Gator (Gator) on Nov 18, 2010
I complete a puzzle and rate it. Then I view the list of puzzles I completed, scroll over the recently solved puzzle and choose "Rate Puzzle". The ratings for quality and difficulty are ok but the box for completed is empty. I put an X in the box. I list the puzzles again, look at the "Rate Puzzle" again, but the completed box is empty again!
What's "Mark as completed" used for?
Do we have to mark a puzzle as completed or does it automatically happen as soon as a puzzle is solved?
Is this something for people who play offline (on paper)?
Are there many who still use paper in this day and age of technology?
There are many on this site who print the puzzles to take with them offline.#3: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Nov 18, 2010
I also use the "Mark as completed" to get multiple solution puzzles off of the "puzzles that I have not done" list. I will not even attempt one of these as I know there is no way to logically solve them.
I'm not sure why it is always unchecked. Jan would have to answer that, but it sounds like it acts like a (programming) function that set the complete flag to yes (no matter what the previous value was).
I do most of them at work so I print all the wcp ( that one of the secret behind the 40X40 limit...) when I come hjome I check them as mark so I can continue to follow the discution about them#4: Kadou (Kadou) on Nov 18, 2010
Ok, I understand it's for offline players.#5: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Nov 18, 2010
IMO, the "Completed" box should be checked automatically when solved online and remained checked.
Sylvain, I fail to find the relation between this and the discussion about them (comments?). Peux-tu m'expliquer s.v.p ?
I was saying that the "mark as completed" feature is often use for people who prefer doing it on paper. Or even sometime when you don't want to do a puzzle ( like really big one) and don't want to have it on your main page by checking the mark as complete it will disapear from the main page. As for the fact that puzzle you already solve come back it never happen to me#6: Byrdie (byrdie) on Nov 18, 2010
Kadou - I think the answer to your question for Sylvan is that one only sees the comments and updates to comments on puzzles that one has completed (or for puzzles where they specifically choose to read the comments). If a puzzle is not marked as completed and someone adds a new comment, you will not see the new comments.#7: Jan Wolter (jan) on Nov 28, 2010
Please forgive the reticence of long time players to answer your questions or respond to your suggestions. Most of them are ones we have seen many times. My suggestion - I know some of it will be boring and that it will take a long time but you should muddle your way through the forums. I did that early after I joined. Now, the first thing I do when I log in is get caught up on the latest forum posts. Unless I have a response to add, it usually only takes minutes.
Good luck and welcome.
Hmmm... maybe you're right.
When I programmed it, I was thinking of that check box as more of a command you could issue than a reflection of the current status of the puzzle. That's why it says "Mark puzzle as completed" not "Puzzle has been completed".
But maybe it would be less confusing if it worked the way you described.
